Hello! My name is Laura Russ and I am thrilled to be supporting our students at Rocklin Academy Gateway as an Enrichment Support Specialist! It is a privilege to collaborate with talented educators who inspire students to excel academically by providing the tools and experiences needed to achieve their full potential.
I started my teaching career here in Rocklin where I taught first grade. I took a short break from teaching to be a full-time mom, but found it difficult to be away from the teaching profession. In addition to teaching first grade, I have had the opportunity to work with children in grades kindergarten through eighth as a credentialed teacher in the home school setting and as a private tutor. This year marks my eleventh year at Rocklin Academy, and my fifth at Rocklin Academy Gateway.
My husband and I have lived in Rocklin for the past 20 years, and experienced our first year as empty nesters. Our oldest daughter is beginning her third year in college, and we are sending our youngest daughter off for her second year to study out of state. We also have two very sweet dogs who keep us active. Gracie, our black and white Golden-Retriever mix, and our little foster-adopted, Cookie, will once again fill in as our “canine kids” while our daughters are away at school.
It is my great passion to provide learning experiences for students that meet their learning style needs in an environment where they feel safe and secure- and where they are supported in the process of achieving their personal best. Working with students in this capacity, and helping them to establish a foundation of success, has been the most rewarding experience of my career. I am looking forward to a year of celebrations!
