My name is Melanie Torrey and I am so excited to be spending my 4th year teaching 5th grade at Rocklin Academy Gateway!!

I graduated with my Bachelor’s in Psychology and minor in Women's Studies from Vanguard University of Southern California. I received my teaching credential from Vanguard University and student taught in the Newport Mesa School District. After completing my credential I was hired as a 5th-grade teacher in the South San Francisco Unified School District.  I loved everything about teaching there, but knew my heart would always be in Placer County. I grew up in Roseville and was privileged to have many influential educators and wanted to make that same positive impact on other students' lives in this area.

I feel honored to be working with such an amazing school that values community, parent engagement, collaboration, and creating engaged and responsible citizens.

Outside of teaching, I love to spend time outdoors with my son, husband, and dog! We enjoy hiking, going on road trips, and spending time with our families!
