My name is Matt Nohel and I am stoked to join Rocklin Academy for this new school year. I’ll be guiding eighth graders through math and science, and having some fun along the way.
I truly enjoy math and science as it allows us to be creative and explore the world around us. My goal is for my students to discover a love for learning; even if not in math or science. Just as important as the content, I am pumped to meet the students, make strong connections, and hopefully build lasting relationships. I plan to support my students in developing essential skills to be successful throughout the remainder of their education, and encourage taking full ownership and responsibility of their education.
I have been in the education world for some time, and could not imagine doing anything else. This will be my sixth year as a teacher, I have taught 2nd through 6th grade. I am very excited to move to the upper grades, a place I have wanted to be since the beginning. I have previously worked for year as an instructional aide in high school for a special education class, a year working as a support for adults with special needs, and two years as a substitute teacher in all grade levels.
I went to school at C.S.U.S with a major in Philosophy. After graduating I explored different career paths, but felt a strong pull towards the education field and received my teaching credential from William Jessup University.
To help refuel my tanks, I spend time with my family and enjoy outdoor activities of all kinds. My wife is also a teacher, and we have two amazing young girls. We go camping as much as possible, and I also love hiking, jogging, mountain biking, riding our quads, and enjoying nature.
I am ready for an amazing year!
