Hello! My name is Kristie Young and I am beyond thrilled to start my third year at Rocklin Academy Gateway, continuing as a fourth grade teacher! Fourth grade is a fun, challenging year where children take big steps toward owning their learning and growing their individuality. I am so grateful to be a part of this community and partner with you and your family this year!
My professional background:
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Child Development at CSU Sacramento, and continued on to earn my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and Master’s Degree in Teaching at UC Irvine in 2017. My experience student teaching took place first at a STEM-focused magnet school and then at a project-based charter school, where I truly developed a love Core Knowledge, as well as a love for collaborating with fellow teachers, students, and parents. My first year of teaching took place in a fourth grade class in Grass Valley, but my heart belonged in my hometown of Rocklin. I was so fortunate to join Rocklin Academy in 2018, and am looking forward to continuing with fourth grade here once again!
I grew up in Rocklin, but I currently live in Lincoln with my husband of just over a year, Chase. We adore our puppy, Hanzo, and our cat, Luna. I mostly enjoy spending time indoors, playing with the animals, reading, crafting, or playing video games. I love all forms of art and work to improve my skills in my free time. I am a die-hard Harry Potter fan and a lover of all things Disney!
I truly love everyone in the Rocklin Academy Family of Schools community and I am thrilled for another successful year in fourth grade!
