Hello, my name is Wendy Mitchell and I am very excited and honored to be the Principal of 6-8 grade at Rocklin Academy Gateway. I have a strong belief in Rocklin Academy and our Core Values. I enjoy watching all our students reach their full potential and believe our culture of parent partnership is an essential part of what makes our schools a great place to learn. I have a love and passion for education and am looking forward to a great year.
I received my B.A. in child development from California State University, Sacramento in 1993. In 2002, I returned to school and received my M.A. in elementary education with my teaching credential. I taught in the classroom for ten years with six of those years at Rocklin Academy. After four years on leadership, one year as a Common Core and Core Knowledge coordinator, I returned to school to pursue my Administrative Services Credential. I truly love my job and Rocklin Academy and I am thrilled to be starting my eleventh year here.
My husband and I have three wonderful daughters. This year has been a busy year for the Mitchells. We have had our two oldest daughters graduate from college. My youngest daughter will be a sophmore in college. Our oldest daughter will be getting married this fall and we are excited to add a wonderful young man to the family. We also have a cockapoo named Mojo who keeps us all on our toes.
When not at school, I love to travel. I have traveled cross-country 4 times and loved every minute of it. My daughters and I have a goal to visit all 50 states and only have 5 more to go. Who knows where our next adventure will be? My husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary by purchasing road bicycles. We have loved putting miles on our bikes and enjoying the outdoors. This past June we completed our first big ride at Lake Tahoe. We hope to take part in many more.
I am looking forward to partnering with you, your student and our amazing teachers and staff to make a great team. I feel together we can help your child to be successful. It’s going to be a great year. Go Gators!
