Hello, my name is Kayla Ross-Morales and it is an honor to be returning to Rocklin Academy Gateway for my fourth year as a 2nd grade teacher.
I was born in Winona, Minnesota and spent the early years of my life in the midwest (USA). Although I love California, I will be a Hawkeye for life! Following my family’s move to California, I graduated from Rocklin High School and was awarded a scholarship to play basketball at Lewis & Clark College. Lewis & Clark College, located in Portland, was a blast and while there I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Psychology. My next step was to join the Sacramento branch of the Americorps as a Family Resource Center member. It was then clear to me to continue my path as a teacher, and so I returned to William Jessup University to earn my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Additionally, I was awarded GATE certification by the Capitol Region of the California Association for the Gifted (CAG).
I have over 15 years of experience in working with children of all ages. These experiences range from teaching 4th grade, substitute teaching, teaching students with special needs, tutoring, coaching, facilitating, case-managing, and providing care. Through this array of varying experiences, I have had the pleasure of teaching and learning with children and families of various ages, ethnicities, backgrounds, cultures, obstacles, practices, etc. These opportunities have fueled my devotion to continue to be an effective teacher with character. Looking forward, I will continue to be a lifelong learner.
My family consists of a handsome, loving husband; an amazing, creative son; a wild Tabby (who believes he’s a dog); and a soon-to-be newborn son. We love being part of this community and attending its events, such as sports games, jazz festivals, community plays, and science/technology fairs. I hope to continue to connect to the community and cultivate long standing relationships. In addition to being “out and about”, my special interests include: reading, baking, hiking, science, basketball, soccer, and visual and performing arts.
I was drawn to Rocklin Academy Gateway because of its prestige, its technical modernity, its creative approach in education, and its quest for excellence in teaching practice. Furthermore, I feel privileged to partner with an all-star faculty as well as connect with passionate parents. I look forward to another year of developing the future thinkers of the world!
