Hello Rocklin Academy Families,
My name is Nicole Moraru and I am thrilled to be back teaching first grade at Rocklin Academy Gateway! This will be my third year teaching at Gateway and my fifth year teaching first grade. I grew up in Sacramento before attending UC Santa Cruz where I studied Anthropology as an undergraduate. Continuing on there, I received my Masters in Education and teaching credential in 2006.
After living in Santa Cruz for 9 years, my husband and I moved to Portland where we married and had our 2 amazing daughters Alana (7) and Maisy (5). We moved to Rocklin a few years ago to be near family, for the wonderful community, and great schools. And what a home we have found!
Big things happen in first grade. From learning how to read and exploring mathematics, I absolutely love watching my students learn and grow throughout the year. I strive to build a fun, safe and welcoming classroom environment in which students can reach their full potential. In my spare time, I enjoy getting sucked into a good book, having game nights with friends, and playing at the park with my kids. Other hobbies include getting crafty, organizing and exploring the Sacramento local music scene.
I am looking forward to meeting my new students and working closely with parents, staff and my first grade cohorts. Here’s to an amazing school year!
