I am honored to be teaching second grade again at Rocklin Academy Gateway, and to be a part of a network of highly prepared educators who share my passion for a transformative academic experience.

I am thrilled to engage my second grade students inside of an atmosphere of excitement, and I look forward to building a strong home-school partnership in learning. I believe this partnership creates a community of support as it fosters an environment of security, which allows your child to reach their fullest potential.

As for my education, I received my Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from William Jessup University, focusing on the integration of technology within the classroom. In addition, I hold my K-8 Multiple Subject Teaching Credential along with Supplemental Credential in Business and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.

Before joining Rocklin Academy Gateway, I taught TK for one year, Kindergarten for five years, and I have been a substitute teacher in multiple public school districts ranging from grades TK through 8th grade. My husband (Eric) and I have been married for 29 years and we are ‘ex-patriots’ of the state of Ohio, the home of the Buckeyes—and the home of 8 presidents and 24 astronauts!

My family (affectionately known as “The Hogue Hut”) relocated to Rocklin, California 17 years ago with our two daughters Kiersti (WHS ‘09; WJU ‘14) and Kourtnee (WHS ‘11; WJU ‘16). Kiersti and her husband Chris (WHS ‘09; WJU ‘14) live in Rocklin, and they have blessed us with our first grandson, Bradley (2 yrs), and first granddaughter, Briar (1 month). Kourtnee holds her BS in Biology and is currently working as a dental assistant while she attends Carrington College, working towards becoming a dental hygienist.

My passion is “teaching minds and reaching hearts.” I am so eager to meet you and your wonderful student(s) as we set our compass together toward an adventurous year of learning at Rocklin Academy Gateway—go Gators!
