I am Laura Snider; this will be my sixth year teaching adorable, smart, curious kindergarten students (YEAH) at the Rocklin Academy Gateway campus.
My family includes my wonderfully supportive husband, Mike, our three kids (Hunter, Ali and Jason) and our two mischievous dogs. In my spare time, you will most likely find me cheering on my children in several extra-curricular activities: baseball, choral concerts, theater, etc. Moreover, I enjoy going to the movies, being outdoors and I am a huge 49er fan!
Along with my teaching credential, I hold a Masters Degree in Education and a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development from CSUS, Sacramento. In addition to my educational background, years of facilitating experience has helped prepare me for this teaching position, which includes working with children, families, and educators by way of substitute teaching, preschool teaching, and numerous volunteer opportunities (e.g. Head Start, Montessori, reading tutor, art docent, PTC board member, soccer coach, etc.). These accumulated life experiences have shown me different perspectives that help strengthen my instructional choices and classroom management to better meet the needs and interests of my students and their families.
Emphasis on a well-organized classroom environment and respect/acknowledgement of students’ diverse learning styles will further enhance the Core Knowledge curriculum being provided. Further, I will rely on the support of my fellow team of teachers, cooperative parent volunteers, surrounding community businesses/leaders and active student participants to help meet the Common Core State Standards and to make this a positive, rewarding, and memorable school year!
