Let me first say, I am very much looking forward to a great year in 8th grade. My first year teaching was actually a long term substitute job in 2nd graded at the Meyers Street campus. I came to RAFOS as a parent in search of a place that would fit my oldest son’s academic needs. Rocklin Academy turned out to be just the right fit for him, and the McClain family has been part of this wonderful school district ever since. I found my passion for teaching while volunteering in my children’s classrooms. This compelled me to go back to college, and I graduated from William Jessup University with my bachelor’s in Liberal Studies and my minor in Bible and Theology. My wonderful family has supported me through this amazing adventure. My husband and I have three children and two dogs; a crazy Golden Retriever dog named Max and his tiny side-kick, a Lhasa Apso named Scrunchi. We are a fiercely devoted soccer family. All three children have played soccer from a very young age, and John and I have never grown weary of cheering them on. I am excited about the opportunity I have been given to partner with other Rocklin Academy/Western Sierra families to ensure the success of our students. I spend a great deal of time reminding my students about the power of the "Collective Brain" (many minds working together to solve the world's problems). I encourage team work and cooperative learning. This goes hand in hand with the RAFOS philosophy of the community working together to educate. Let’s not forget that it takes a team to get the ball down the field, but in the end, you can’t make a goal unless you take the shot. I look forward to encouraging your kids to take their shot.
