Hello Rocklin Academy Families,

My name is Nicole Moraru and I am thrilled to be a part of the 2nd grade team at Gateway! This will be my ninth year teaching at Gateway and my sixth year teaching 2nd grade. I grew up in Sacramento before attending UC Santa Cruz where I studied Anthropology as an undergraduate. Continuing on there, I received my Masters in Education and teaching credential in 2006.

I have been lucky to call several places “home” including Santa Cruz, Portland and now the Roseville/Rocklin area. I have two amazing daughters that attend Gateway as well, Alana will be at completing her last year at Gateway and Maisy is in 6th Grade. We love seeing the Core Knowledge curriculum spiral throughout the years! 

Great things happen in 2nd grade. I take joy in watching my students learn and grow throughout the year. I strive to build a fun, safe and welcoming classroom environment in which students can reach their full potential. In my spare time, I enjoy getting sucked into a good book, yoga, and walking my two dogs Truly and Peppa. Other hobbies include getting crafty, organizing and exploring the Sacramento local music scene. You might also catch me on the soccer fields cheering on my two girls!

I am looking forward to meeting my new students and working closely with parents, staff and my second grade cohorts. Here’s to an amazing school year!
