Hello, my name is Maryann Spiess and I will be teaching 4th grade classroom music and vocal music 5th through 8th grade for the 2017-2018 school year. I have been a private music instructor for 23 years and this year will mark my eleventh year as a school teacher. I have taught music to Kindergarten through 12th grade students in public school, private school, and four years for Rocklin Academy. I love helping to develop the vocal skills of our students and use music to support students’ learning of our Core Knowledge Curriculum.
I graduated from the Conservatory of Music at the University of the Pacific with a Bachelor of Music degree with an emphasis in music education and choral conducting. I have been accompanying and working with choirs since the age of 13. Singing and playing piano are my passion, and I love to encourage young people in their musical gifts. Getting to create beautiful music with students and exposing them to new musical experiences is incredibly rewarding.
My husband is a high school choral director, and I love getting to work with him and his singers in my time off. My two high-school-aged sons are musicians as well. We enjoy camping, kayaking, traveling, and eating good food together.
Rocklin Academy Gateway is a great place to work. The administration and families are so supportive of our developing music program. I am thrilled to get to teach vocal, musicianship, and life skills to our Rocklin Academy Gateway students!
Looking forward to another great year.
